Meet Cate MacKilligan: how our speech-language pathologist changes lives at All Together Wellness

Every so often, someone joins our team who doesn't just fill a role — she becomes part of the heartbeat of the practice. That's Cate.

I get asked all the time what makes All Together Wellness different. My honest answer is always the same: it's the people. So today, I want you to meet one of the people who makes this place what it is — our speech-language pathologist, Cate MacKilligan.

Home-grown

A Jacksonville native, through and through

Cate grew up right here in the Jacksonville area before heading off to Florida State for her undergraduate degree. She came home to finish her training, earning her master's in speech-language pathology at Jacksonville University. There's something about a therapist who knows this community — not as a place she moved to, but as the place she's always called home. Our families feel that from the very first session.

Depth of experience

A career built around the most complex cases

Cate has spent her entire career in pediatrics, working with children from just one month old through age eighteen. That range matters. It means she's just as comfortable supporting a newborn learning to feed as she is guiding a teenager through a complex language disorder. Her clinical focus includes:

  • Expressive and receptive language disorders

  • Dysphagia and feeding aversions

  • Cognitive-linguistic deficits

  • Neurodegenerative conditions

  • Autism spectrum disorder

  • Speech sound disorders

She's also trained in trialing AAC devices for children who communicate in ways beyond spoken words, and she works daily alongside our full interdisciplinary team — therapists, doctors, nurses, and referring providers — to make sure every child's care plan is truly coordinated, not siloed.

As a mom herself, Cate understands the integral need to slow down, be heard, and feel supported.

— Dr. Jenny Quartano, on why Cate connects so deeply with our families

That's not a small thing. So much of what we do here is rooted in listening — really listening — before we ever build a plan. Cate brings that instinct into every room she walks into.

Growing with us

Since joining ATW in 2024

Cate joined our team in 2024, and she has been thriving in an environment built around holistic, patient-centered care — because it's how she was already wired to work. Since coming on board, she's expanded her scope even further, adding feeding therapy, tethered oral tissues, and orofacial myofunctional therapy to her clinical toolkit. That growth reflects exactly what we hope for every clinician here: not staying still, but continually reaching for the next way to serve families better.

Beyond the clinic

  • She's a dedicated mom who brings that same steady presence home to her own family.

  • She recharges with a good workout and, most days, a strong cup of coffee.

  • Family time is where she's happiest outside of the clinic.

Cate is exactly what All Together Wellness is about: expertise held with warmth, clinical depth paired with genuine presence. She doesn't just treat a diagnosis — she sees the whole child, and the whole family behind them. That's why I'm proud to have her on our team, and why I know your family will feel it too.
